LinkedIn Text Formatter

Bold, italic, underline and strikethrough for LinkedIn posts, comments and your headline. Select words, click a style, copy, paste.

78 / 3,000 characters (LinkedIn post limit)

Tip: with nothing selected, a style applies to the whole text.

How the LinkedIn bold text trick works

LinkedIn's post editor has no formatting buttons. This formatter swaps your letters for look-alike characters from Unicode's "mathematical" alphabets, such as 𝗯𝗼𝗹𝗱 and 𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘤. Because they are characters rather than styling, they stay formatted when you paste them into LinkedIn, and they work on the LinkedIn app, the website and in messages.

Tips for formatting LinkedIn posts

  • Bold the hook, not the whole post. One bold line at the top gives readers a reason to click "see more".
  • Use formatting sparingly. Screen readers can struggle with styled letters, and LinkedIn search may not match them.
  • Keep numbers plain when they matter. Italic styles have no styled digits, so numbers stay normal.
  • Mind the limit. LinkedIn posts allow up to 3,000 characters. Some apps count each styled letter as two characters, so leave a little room.

Frequently asked questions

How do I make text bold on LinkedIn?

LinkedIn has no bold button. Type your post here, select the words you want bold, click Bold, then copy and paste the text into LinkedIn. The bold letters are special Unicode characters, so they stay bold after pasting.

Is the LinkedIn text formatter free?

Yes. It is free with no sign-up, and the text is formatted in your browser: nothing is sent to a server.

Where can I use bold and italic text on LinkedIn?

Anywhere you can paste text: posts, comments, your headline, the About section and messages.

Does formatted text hurt accessibility?

It can. Screen readers may read styled Unicode letters one by one or skip them, and LinkedIn search may not match them. Use formatting for a few key words, not whole paragraphs.

How do I remove the formatting?

Select the text and click Clear formatting. It turns styled letters back into plain text.
