Email Spam Word Checker

Find spam trigger words, shouting and hype in your email before you send it. Your text stays in your browser.

How to keep cold emails out of spam

  • Authenticate your domain. Set up SPF, DKIM and DMARC records before sending.
  • Send small volumes. A few dozen personalised emails a day per inbox looks like a person; hundreds at once looks like a campaign.
  • Write like a person. Plain text, one clear question, no hype words, no ALL CAPS.
  • Keep links to a minimum. One link (or none) in a first email.
  • Make it easy to opt out. In Australia, the Spam Act 2003 requires commercial emails to identify the sender and include a working unsubscribe option.

Frequently asked questions

Do spam words really send email to spam?

Rarely on their own. Gmail and Outlook weigh sender reputation, authentication (SPF, DKIM and DMARC), and how recipients engage much more heavily. Spammy wording can still tip a borderline email into the spam folder, and it hurts replies, so it is worth fixing.

Is this spam checker free?

Yes. It is free with no sign-up, and the check runs in your browser: your email text is not sent anywhere.

What else causes emails to land in spam?

A new or low-reputation sending domain, missing SPF, DKIM or DMARC records, sending large volumes suddenly, high bounce rates, image-only emails, too many links, and recipients marking messages as spam.

Should I remove every flagged word?

No. The list flags words that are often used by spammers. A single "discount" in a genuine email is fine. Look for clusters of urgency, money and hype, and rewrite those parts in plain language.
