Title case or sentence case?

  • Title case is traditional for article titles, book titles and many blogs.
  • Sentence case reads as more conversational and is common for UI text, emails and modern news sites.
  • Pick one and use it consistently across a site.

Frequently asked questions

What is title case?

Title case capitalises the main words of a headline and keeps short minor words (like "a", "the", "and", "of") in lower case, except as the first or last word.

AP or Chicago style?

AP style (used by news sites) lowercases articles, conjunctions and prepositions of three letters or fewer. Chicago lowercases all prepositions, even long ones like "between" and "through". Both capitalise the first and last word.

Does it keep acronyms?

Yes. Words in all capitals such as SEO or NASA, and mixed-case names like iPhone, are left as they are.

Is my text uploaded?

No. Conversion happens in your browser.
